If you need to reinstall your operating system, but can’t find the Windows 95 or Windows 98 product key, don’t worry. I’ll show you how to retrieve it.

It’s really not lost. It’s actually stored on your computer. Simply follow the instructions below to retrieve it.

But, be sure to write the product key down and keep it in a safe place, or tape it on top of your OEM Windows 95/98 disk for safe keeping.

This way you won’t go crazy searching for it.

Go to Start -> Run and type in the following line and hit ok.

C:\Windows\Command\Find /I “ProductKey” C:\Windows\System.dat

Now  be sure to write it down exactly as it appears, and store it in a safe place.
