How to disable Windows XP Balloon Tips?
Windows XP Tips Posted by Shawn DesRochers August 30th, 2007I am sure many users of Microsoft Windows find those balloon popups annoying. I myself am one of them. You can disable them with a small registry edit and never have to deal with them again.
To turn off balloon tips in applications that support the Windows XP Themes or applications do the following.
Go to Start and then Run and Type: Regedit
Once the Registry Manager opens navigate to the following:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\
Now right click in the window on the right and select “Create a DWORD” value and type in all together “EnableBalloonTips“, and set the value of 0 to disable them.
If you don’t want to edit the registry or don’t feel comfortable, I have included the registry key for you.
Simply download it to your desktop, and double click the file and select ok on the prompts and your done.
