Well for Mulitple users you need to use this methode...First turn off numlock. Then edit the registry

For all users, you need to make the same change HKEY_USERS set to 2

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard\InitialKeyboardIndicators

Then reboot, it should now be on, you should see a green light indicator

Yes, I do.

However, I have not laid idle in the mean time and did more investigation...

Out of desperation, I downloaded a reg file from here:

and it was just what was up on this page, but a ready made one.

As I mentioned earlier, I manually tried changing the registry, only to see the '2' sitting there, as opposed to the '0', so I left it as it was.

Anyway, long story short, I downloaded this file and activated it.

I tested it out straight away by resetting the system.

For the first time since the reformatting, I saw the green NumLock light on!

However, I do not know if I turned it off by mistake later on, or if it turned off by itself, but as I needed to use the numeric keypad I realised the light was switched off, so I had to switch it on again.

If you do not mind, I would still like to hear your resolution, if you have one :)

Kind Regards,
Isa

I have had this problem just about whenever I install a fresh copy of XP Pro.

Last time I installed it, I found a place where I could do something to fix the issue.

This time I think I did even more, but couldn't fix the issue.

Just for the record, my registry settings for"
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard\InitialKeyboardIndicators
was already on 2, yet it still wouldn't boot up with NumLock on for Logon!

I then tried the script editor, and still, I have to press NumLock on to type my logon PW.

What gives?
