How to allow Network Access using a Blank Password in Windows Vista
Windows Vista Tips Posted by Shawn DesRochers September 5th, 2007If you have a local area network installed at home you probably have noticed when browsing the network in Windows Vista, it requires users on the same network to use a password to access any computer in the Workgroup.
To change this setting will need to launch the Group Policy Object Editor in Vista.
- To do this Go to Start -> Run and type gpedit.msc
- This will allow you to edit the Group Policies
- Next Go to -> Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options
- Double click on Accounts and look for -> Limit local account use of blank passwords to console login only.
- Select disable this option.
Now when you browse other computers on the network it won’t require a password.
