Microsoft Windows set the Recycle bin up as a fail safe option for users who accidentally delete files and need to retrieve them by selecting undo. But what about users who just want to delete files without having to go through the hassle of selecting Empty Recycle Bin? I for one hate taking one step forward to only have to take one step back because the file I deleted is sitting in the Recycle Bin waiting for me to empty it!

Here is how to set the Recycle Bin to delete files automatically without selecting “Empty Recycle Bin” every time.

  1. Go to Start -> Run and type Regedit
  2. On the left hand side select the “+” to navigate to the following.
  3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ BitBucket
  4. On the right look for NukeOnDelete
  5. Right click it and set the key value for NukeOnDelete to 1
