@Ronald Morris

In older versions of Windows (prior to Vista) the location of File Type Associations was curiously hidden within the "Folder Options" menu. Folder Options can be selected from the Control Panel or by opening any folder with Windows Explorer and selecting "Tools -> Folder Options" and then selecting the "File Types" tab.

In Vista and later these file type associations were moved to the more appropriately named "Default Programs" section of the Control Panel (and are now inaccessible from Windows Explorer's Folder Options). Within the Default Programs windows select "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" for a comprehensive list of all file types registered on your current installation.

looks like How to Prevent Changes to File Associations is just what I need. Office 2007 changes file associations anytime you use it. Question? How do you easily change one you want to change?
