Scenario: You know you double clicked the folder but instead of the folder opening up to access the content you get the search companion instead.

This has happened to me, and it can be frustrating when you don’t know what’s going on.  You start to think your computer is possessed, but instead it’s just the folder option has been changed.

Microsoft Windows has come along way from the previous versions of Windows like Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows Me. The stability and the performance issues that the previous Windows versions had where almost impossible to work with and how could we forget the dreaded blue screen of death that we all got accustomed to.

However Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional have its own issues and burdens. 

Microsoft Corporation wanted to cover every aspect of usability for the corporate office user to the personal home user of their operating system that they packaged all these extra’s and services that will never be used by the personal computer user.

The results of Microsoft’s decision is a computer system that obviously runs slower, none responsive or users still experience system crashes.

Remove Unnecessary Programs from Starting Automatically in Windows

Many Windows users are unaware that some software vendors have there applications load at startup by adding a registry value or adding them to the startup folder on there system.  They do this so that there software loads quickly when selected, but the fact is - it doesn’t make a difference except that it loads every time the computer is started.

Microsoft to offer single download for Windows Live suite

How to Repair a Damaged Master Boot Record in Windows XP

To fix your Master Boot record you will need the Windows XP CDROM. The CDROM has a tool called the Recovery Console, which is designed to help you repair a damaged master boot record or boot sector. To start the Recovery Console and fix your damaged MBR.
