Viewing Hidden and System Files in Vista
Windows Vista Tips Posted by Shawn DesRochers November 10th, 2007like other versions of Microsoft windows you need to enable the option to view hidden files or hidden system files. So in this tutorial we’ will show you how to do this in Windows Vista.
- Go to Start Click on the the Control Panel / Folders icon
- Click on the View tab at the top
- Check or uncheck the options you want
The settings you need to change to view hidden files or system files are the following:
- Check Show hidden files and folders
- Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
- Uncheck Hide protected operating system files
You will recieve a warning when you do the last one, simply select ok and your done.
When your done editing or removing files, simply go through the above steps turning those three above options back on.

[...] I got a virus recently and it was from a usb. The bad part was even my ipod was affected. What the virus does is copy your files to exe then hide all your folders. That way you have no choice but to open the exe file. And that’s what messes up the computer even more. Thanks to http://www.pcwindowstips.com I was able to figure out how to see all my hidden files . I recently re-installed Windows Xp home edition on my computer and I can’t get online. I was told that my network drivers have to be re-installed. Can you tell me how to get this done? Please help.

Hello Dawn,
I sent you an email with the instructions awhile back and suggested you visit the DELL Support site to get the driver needed. I do hope this resolved your issues.
