An easy way to speed up the start menu display items is to turn off the menu shadow.
To turn of menu shadow – follow the instructions below
- Right click on your Desktop, in an open area no icons or folders
- Select Properties
- Click on the Appearance tab
- Click on the Effects button
- Uncheck Show shadows under menus
This will increase the performance of the start menu items and allow you to use your computer more effectively.
